Rajyoga Meditation |
'Yoga' is a Sanskrit word which literally means connection or link just as its antonym Viyoga means separation. It implies the connection of two separate entities. In the spiritual sense, 'yoga' is basically a soul-God linkage. It connotes the establishment of a spiritual and mental link between the soul and the Almighty Supreme Soul so as to recoup the light and might lost by the soul as a result of vicious and wrongful actions performed by it in the world drama. Just as a discharged battery has to be recharged by connecting it to a battery-charger, in the same way, a weak soul has to obtain light and might by linking itself up with Almighty God Shiva.
The Yoga taught by God Shiva Himself is complete Yoga. This very Yoga has acquired various names. Since it is based on knowledge of God, this Yoga is known as "Gyan Yoga"(Yoga of Knowledge). It is also called Bhakti Yoga (Yoga of Devotion) because it requires unflinching devotion towards God. The same yoga is also termed Karma Yoga (Yoga of Action) because it can be practiced even while performing ones worldly duties. This very Yoga is also named as Sanyas Yoga (Yoga of Renunciation) because the aspirant has to renounce his vices and mental attachments with worldly objects though he has not to give up his hearth and home. None of these names, however, comprehensively convey the meaning of this Godly Yoga. Hence, to distinguish it from Hath-Yoga, which involves the practice of difficult penances, this yoga is named Sahaj (Easy) Yoga or Raj-Yoga. This Yoga is aptly called 'Raja Yoga' for the following reasons:-
ATTAINMENTS (BENEFITS) THROUGH RAJ YOGA : |
The aim of Rajyoga meditation is to successfully establish a mental link with the supreme source of all spiritual energy and power, the Supreme Soul, with the purpose of freeing the individual soul from sorrow, misery, pain, depression, fear, anxiety, illness, insecurity and phobias, and enabling the soul to once again experience constant peace, happiness, love and lasting health and prosperity.
Since the individual soul has lost its inherent power and potential and its spiritual energy has become low after playing its role in physical bodies for a prolonged period of time, the link with the Supreme through Rajyoga mediation re-charges, re-invigorates, re-strengthens and re-empowers the soul with its original spiritual energy, so that the soul is once again able to play its role in its original supreme glory.
Raj Yoga brings about a complete change in the students life. He is in the world, yet out of it. He acts and is yet free from the bondage of action. Though he actively participates in household and social life, he has no personal attachments. He remains detached from events and unaffected by situations of all kinds and leads a lotus-like life. The soul experiences lightness, freedom of action and continuous link with God. This gives him control over thoughts, senses and actions. There is complete harmony between his thoughts and actions. Consequently, old Sanskars and vicious atmosphere do not affect him. His soul radiates light and might. He becomes a useful member of the society. In short, Raj-yoga enables man to achieve all that is worth attaining in life. It is the fulfilment of the present life and attainment of Deity status for 21 births (2500 years) in the ensuing Golden Aged World of Tomorrow.---- om shanti.
